LUF Member Marianne Wahl

Lakehead Unitarian Fellowship is fortunate to have Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra member and concert pianist, Heather Morrison as its Music Director.

Heather has been the pianist for the TBSO (both orchestra and chorus) for over three decades.  She also has been a Lecturer in Lakehead University’s Department of Music, working as a piano instructor, a chamber ensembles coach, and teaching a keyboard literature course.  For the past fifteen years, Heather has traveled to the Muskokas in August where she is the Faculty Pianist and Concert Co-ordinator for the Interprovincial Music Camp.

Chamber music has always been central to her life and she has enjoyed many collaborations with local, national and international artists.  Heather is a founding member of the trio “MuSiC in Common” with clarinetist Peter Shackleton and hornist Derek Conrod.  They appear regularly in concert at the Stratford Festival and in Lakehead’s “Lumina” concerts.  In recent years engagements have included series concerts at the Winnipeg Art Gallery and the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo.

Heather's impeccable accompaniments to our congregational hymn singing really inspire us to ENJOY the music in our services. In addition it is a weekly custom for her to invite musicians from the community (often fellow TBSO members) to enliven, delight and add immeasurably to the Sunday Services.

Blues & Roots Nights at LUF

LUF is pleased to offer Blues & Roots concerts. Invited musicians from the community entertain near full houses every month or so. We're very appreciative of the efforts of LUF Board member and musician Fred Upshaw for organising these evenings. The proceeds have helped both LUF, the Thunder Bay Flood Relief and Shelter House. Watch this page future concerts.
